Island Greetings, beach enthusiasts! As we continue our journey through the picturesque shores of Oistins Barbados, let’s unveil yet another gem: Accra Beach, also known as Rockley Beach. While we’ve already discussed Miami Beach and the renowned Brownes Beach, there’s always room to explore more of the island’s stunning coastline. Let’s dive into what makes Accra Beach a popular destination for locals and visitors alike.
Accra Beach: Where Sun and Surf Meet
Nestled along the main road (Highway 7) between Miami Beach and Brownes Beach, Accra Beach beckons with its inviting shores. The beach is aptly named after its proximity to the Accra Hotel & Spa, located right next door. While Accra Beach boasts its own allure, I must admit that it’s not my personal favorite due to its popularity. The bustling nature of the beach, perpetually thronged with visitors due to its adjacency to the hotel, creates a lively yet crowded atmosphere.
The beach features small to medium waves, clear waters, and a gentle undertow, making it perfect for activities like body surfing, boogie boarding, and snorkeling. Its facilities include a play park, beach bars, umbrella and chair rentals, and a convenient food court. Lounge chairs and umbrellas can be rented at a reasonable price of 20-30 US dollars. With a vast parking lot, showers, changing rooms, toilets, and a children’s playground, Accra Beach has everything you need for a day of sun and sea. Picnic tables also await at the rear of the beach, offering a cozy spot to enjoy your own food and drinks.
A Plethora of Amenities
Accra Beach is not short on amenities to enhance your beach experience: — Picnic tables for a comfortable dining spot — Toilets, showers, and changing facilities for convenience — Food and beverage options available for sustenance — Clothes and souvenir stalls for a touch of local shopping — Disabled/wheelchair access ensuring inclusivity — Children’s playground for young adventurers — Taxi rank for easy transportation — Ample parking, a true blessing in popular destinations — Lifeguard ensuring safety while you enjoy the water.
Savor the Flavors
When hunger strikes, Accra Beach’s proximity to various food providers is a delight. Beachside bars offer local delicacies, drinks, and cocktails – the perfect accompaniments to beachside relaxation. The adjacent Quayside Centre is home to diverse culinary options. From ice cream, pizza, and coffee to roti and doubles, you’re spoiled for choice. My personal favorite, Just Grillin’, promises the finest hamburgers on the island. Nearby, Chefette Restaurant and BBQ Barn cater to your cravings with delectable chicken and fries.
Navigating to Accra Beach
Finding your way to Accra Beach is a breeze, whether you’re using ZR vans, public buses, or driving your own car. The beach’s central location ensures easy access, making it an ideal destination for all.
Embrace the Accra Beach Experience
Although Accra Beach isn’t my top choice due to its bustling atmosphere, it holds immense appeal for those seeking a vibrant and lively beach scene. If you’re comfortable with a lively ambiance, the fantastic water and sands of Accra Beach await. With excellent amenities and enticing dining options, it’s a family-friendly spot to spend quality time.
