A Helpful Guide To Navigating Banking in Oistins Barbados: Your Guide to Currency Exchange

Written by:

Island Greetings from Oistins Barbados! If you’re heading to our tropical paradise, having access to funds is essential. While some travelers opt for cash or traveler’s checks, many convert their currency to US dollars upon arriving, as most establishments in Barbados accept both US and Barbados dollars. When it comes to exchanging money into Barbados currency (BBD), it’s wise to skip airport conversion spots, which tend to be costlier, and head to a local bank. For those staying in Oistins, there’s a prime choice: CIBC First Caribbean Bank.

CIBC First Caribbean Bank: Your Banking Companion in Oistins

CIBC First Caribbean Bank (ATM) is strategically located near the renowned Oistins Fish Fry, a significant tourist attraction in the area. Consult the Oistins, Barbados map to pinpoint its position. Formed in 2002 through the merger of Barclays PLC Caribbean and Canada’s CIBC West Indies Holdings—banks with a combined experience of nearly 250 years—CIBC First Caribbean Bank stands as a reliable financial institution.

Location and Operating Hours

The bank’s head office, situated at Warrens, St. Michael, oversees ten branches across Barbados, including the Oistins location. Generally, the bank operates from 8 am to 3 pm, except for Fridays when it extends its hours until 5 pm. Bear in mind that the bank is closed on weekends. Prepare for a bit of waiting, as the bank is often crowded. Allocate around 20 to 45 minutes for your banking errand. An ATM is also available, although lines may form. You can access your account and withdraw funds for a fee of 5 US dollars.
